In a city known for its architecture, The St. Regis Chicago rises as a landmark — designed by Jeanne Gang and her team at Studio Gang Architects, and the tallest building in the world designed by a woman. Beyond its panoramic views, the hotel delivers a luxurious interior experience, from devoted butler service to a 4,600-square-foot Presidential Suite.
Orbis had the privilege of contributing to this project, entrusted with photorealistic renderings of the common areas, pool, spa, and suites, along with detailed 3D floor plans — each composed to match the grandeur the building embodies.
Challenges and triumphs
The work was not without its trials. The project's scale and the number of teams involved created a complex mosaic of moving parts, and we worked against the clock, adapting to the pace of construction. Last-minute changes — an inherent part of large projects — added another layer. Working in concert with the various teams, Orbis navigated these shifts with flexibility and precision, keeping the renderings aligned with the project's evolving reality.
Beyond visualization
The renderings brought the intended opulence of the common areas, pool, spa, and suites to life, letting stakeholders see the finished spaces in extraordinary detail. The 3D floor plans went further — giving a clear, comprehensive view of the spatial layouts, supporting efficient planning and better decisions, and helping avoid costly changes later.
The result is a clear example of how expert visualization supports large-scale architecture: despite the project's colossal scale, careful, adaptable work helped realize the vision of luxury that defines The St. Regis Chicago.
