The $200 million World Jewelry Hub is the largest and most ambitious development ever undertaken on behalf of the jewelry and gemstone trades in Latin America. The Panamanian government declared it a Free Trade Zone — where goods imported, traded, and re-exported without entering the local market are exempt from duties, and resident companies are exempt from taxes on re-exportation profits.
Orbis was invited to create renderings and a 3D film of the future building, including a montage of real drone footage of the existing site and a full 3D model. The animation moves through exterior and interior spaces and shows the building’s tower, with spectacular views of both the Pacific Ocean and the mountain ranges rising above Panama City.
The offices and trading floor — Latin America’s first recognized diamond and gemstone exchange — sit in the low-rise base of the complex, alongside a luxury commercial center with banks, specialized support services, restaurants, and high-end retail jewelry stores. The center is built to the professional specifications of the jewelry and gemstone industries, with special attention to security and to the light conditions in the offices and recreational areas. Its structure and location give residents and visitors easy access to the business and entertainment of Panama City, and a rapid connection to the rest of Latin America and the world.
The project was developed in two phases: the first, housing the World Jewelry & Diamond Hub and office space, opened in early 2015; the second involves the construction of the multi-story office tower.
